Stereophonics sign underwear!

My girlfriend and myself went to see Stereophonics at the weekend at The Academy, Dublin.  What an (and I don’t often use this word) awesome gig!  The band played to a tiny crowd in an intimate club after only announcing the gig last week.  I got tickets as soon as they went on sale as I was sure not to miss the greatest band in the world!  Honestly I am obsessed with them.  It’s unhealthy.  And we got to meet the band before they went on stage! :D

Kelly, Richard, Javier and Glen were in HMV, Grafton Street to sign copies of their new ‘best of’ album, A Decade in the Sun.  The rumour was that you needed a wristband to meet the band, available from HMV from at 8.30am, and of course when we went down the security guy said ‘Nah, there’s not going to be any wristbands.  Just turn up.’  Brilliant.  So we got down there on Friday evening and found a huge queue to see the band.

When it was our turn to say hi, I asked them why they skipped Belfast on their tour this year.  They said they would be coming over in January or February!  Just when I’m off to Belgium :(  While I was having a nice wee chat, Jo was busy getting them to sign her knickers!  They were loving it, think it was definitely the most original autograph request of the night!

Got to hear their two new songs, ‘You’re a Star’ and ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ at the gig.  Really loving both of them.  These legends have been belting out classics since the mid 90s, and actually the first album I ever bought was their debut ‘Word Gets Around’.

Awesome work Jo! ;)
